Is your AC system too old?
If your AC system still uses R-22 or even R-410A, it's a sign that the system is getting outdated.
R-22 has been completely replaced and is cost prohibitive to obtain. Even R-410A, which has been the standard for years, is now being phased out. New production of R-410A equipment has been phased out as of January 1, 2025. It will become harder to find and more expensive to purchase, which means future repairs could be costly and difficult.
The HVAC industry is moving to a new refrigerant called R-454B, which is more environmentally friendly and maintains system efficiency. It’s designed to replace R-410A in newly manufactured systems. R-454B has a much lower Global Warming Potential (GWP), which is a measure of how much heat a greenhouse gas traps in the atmosphere, so it has less impact on the environment.
